Family Systems
Family Systems Theory teaches us that we must treat the family as one emotional unit. Families are made up of interconnected and interdependent individuals. Not any one member of the family can be fully understood in isolation of other members of the family.
Family Systems is about inner healing. Our various parts have helped us survive, adapt, make things happen, create and love. Under stress, difficult life circumstances and everyday habit, these parts automatically take charge over our thoughts, feelings and actions. But unfortunately, they are not always in alignment with what is in our best interest today, or, what we value today. When these parts act without our intention and leadership, it’s easy to become trapped in self-defeating behaviors.
Also, when we have had abuse or neglect in our "family of origin", it can lead to serious difficulties throughout life. If you have experienced abuse or neglect in your family of origin, we can work through and overcome the distressing emotions that are often associated with neglect, and physical or sexual abuse.
